Here’s a pretty good primer on why all the interest in mining He3 from the moon, including shots of what appears to be a grid-based IEC type device:

Thanks for forum member Zixinus for the links.

Yeah, but so what? Theres not enough He3 to ever extract from the lunar soil to make it an economic prospect even with cheap space travel, and you can produce it far less expensive by neutron irradiation of lithium.
Hi! Do you know John Kanzius’ invention?
Search for him on http://www.youtube.com

Hi
Problem is not if it is possible, both economical and technical, to extract enough He3 to run a proper amount of power plants to enpower the entire world.
Proplem is more related to politican will and temptation to rule. When, as it is pr. today, the resouces are mostly reachable for only a few contries on earth, i fear far far much more the dominant way these governments will controlling these resources than the economical and technical challenges we will have to face.
Also i fear that, if other governments will try to develope this technology for extracting the He3 from moon and bring it back to earth, we might get an another cind of “race to the moon” than we expected since, “those who rules the border of space, rules the entire world”. Beeing paranoia? A little bit, yes, one may say so, but also a bit scared when looking around the world today.
To day, one can generate power anywhere on the earth since almost every country have its own resources of unrafined power, beeing coal, oil, sun, wather, wind or whatever other resources they might have nearby, it is difficult for one government to use power to controll another country completely.
But there is offcourse exceptions and the way Russia this year used its reargates of gas to control their neighbour country by simply closing the gas distribution system, tells us that concentrating the sources of unrafined power is something one by any means must avoid.
I do luve technology and thinks that for a while, atleast, nuclear fusion is the best road to walk, but this world is not ruled by enthusiasts and it is here the REAL challange is burried…

William.
Do you honestly and sincerely think that the problem of getting He3 from the moon is purely political?
Are you insane?
There is the little issue that its a strech on the USA’s national budget to do LEO operations, let alone lunar. The costs of firing up a rocket is enormous.
Then there is the small, little problem of ACTUALLY USING the He3. Currently, the entire race of bald apes with a digital watches has problems doing D-T fusion, which is several times more easier to do. Nevermind He-3 fusion.
I do luve technology and thinks that for a while, atleast, nuclear fusion is the best road to walk, but this world is not ruled by enthusiasts and it is here the REAL patent dilemma if the patent get bought then the person is bought so is the patent is not able to be copyed by using the same technonological means by which means that it was created they don’t do it sinse the patent hold thats put in its place is now uh 40 or so years old that is 40 years ago the technology then was swapped for something elso so nobody will by now use it I wouldnt hold my breath don’t hold your breath for the fusor 3 or whatever its call edits to well covered devise chief.
